Is AVG Anti-virus a good rootkit remover? Can it slow down your internet connection? Mine has been browsing slowly so i was wondering. I'm on virgin media and everyone else on virgin media internet is fine. Could this be the problem? I removed all viruses yesterday with avast! Anti-virus and CCleaner and cleaned out all cookies, tried opera, still wont work. I'm currently using mozilla, help please?

they can slow every thing down avg anti-virus sucks but yes avg anti-root kit is good also get a-squared it searches for rootkits trojans and way more download it update it and rn a slow scan you well be amazed on what it can find

Yes it can if the program needs to upload or contact where the software gets it's updates.
If you were already infected by a virus, and you cleaned it all out using the above tools, I woud suggest that you get a second opinion from TrendMicro (see below), the scan is free and in my opinion it is a bit more through because, it is continually updated and it will also look for spyware.
Ensure you do this on a broadband connection or you will end up waiting a few hours!
