Corrupted .TMP file?

I am having problems with a file called "DUMP4eca.tmp"

Location: C:\Windows

I am currently running Vista Home Premium

I did a disk defrag using the Auslogics software and the PC froze when scanning the above file. I then tried to scan the file with avast! antivirus 4.8 (home) and the PC froze again.

Can I do anything about this? is the file safe to delete? Where is it from?

Thank you

Go to command prompt

C:%26gt; del/s *.tmp

if it is safe to delete this file, it will automatically delete it.

delete that file its only a Temporary file

this has happened to a few days ago i delete that file and the problem solved

deleting a .TMP file will never harm your computer
Try a system restore by searching restore in the start search and then go back to a date when you didnt have the problem, if it dosent work in normal mode try press f8 at boot up and put into safe mode then do safe mode, it may be ok to delete but try system restore first.
