Internet wont stay connected - Using Both Wireless and Wired?

I have a router and operate a game server and a internet radio station from my home - both stay connected just fine, but my laptop drops connection to the game every 2 minutes. I have rebooted the modem - checked the settings and have no trouble surfing the net - but the game wont stay connected.Setup is: Cable Modem --%26gt; Belkin Wireless Router --%26gt;Game Server(1), Radio Server(2), Laptop(3), VoiP Router(4). Run Avast Anti-Virus but it doesnt matter if its on or not - same problem. Problem is only with the laptop - the other computers have no trouble staying connected to the game server. Also - i do not have a problem using the laptop to connect to the game server from any other location including wireless hotspots across town. Any ideas as to what can cuase this?

Internet wont stay connected - Using Both Wireless and Wired?house call

I had a problem with my cable modem dropping connection. I had the cable company replace my modem at least six times until one day they finally came over and inspected the outside line. They discovered small cracks that let condensation build up in it. Since they replaced the line I haven't had any problems. So you might wan to give them a call and explain the problem and suggest that they inspect the main line.

First of all use Firefox for safer browsing

http://www.cybertopcops.com/firefox-the-...

Replace Avast with AVG Anti-Virus

Replace Spyware Doctor with AVG Anti-Spyware

You can download the free versions from the following page

http://www.cybertopcops.com/free-downloa...

Alternatively if you are looking for all this protection combined into one package, get AVG Internet Security.

I have one suggestion. Download and install McAfee free SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer and if you also use Firefox, you should install that version too. I use both versions. Google for them or search for them at www.download.com. But you will have to put up with their ads to ask you to install the full version everytime you put your cursors on the buttons to read the safety ratings for the sites shown. Red button sites are dangerous, green okay, yellow, tread with caution, grey with question marks means untested sites, etc. If you go direct to websites by typing the URLs, the SiteAdvisor box on the toolbars will also change colours depending on the safety ratings of the sites. .. Hope this helps.

Antivirus for Windows ME and 98?

Microsoft no longer supports these two O/S, and I鈥檝e noticed that upcoming antivirus software doesn鈥檛 seem to include them either. Does anybody out these have either of these older O/S, and what do you plan on doing for an antivirus, and spyware for that matter?

I was advised to check on freeware at Grisoft but found that they are only supporting these two for a short while longer; same with Avast. I鈥檝e got ME on one computer; it鈥檚 obviously old but functions well and I had no reason to replace this unit. Thought of upgrading it to XP but have read some nasty stories about the problems that folks have had in that endeavor, and it also seems as if the simple XP upgrade isn鈥檛 available; it鈥檚 XP with a service pack, which will only go on top of a system already loaded with XP.

I don鈥檛 understand why protection would no longer be offered to these two, even though they鈥檙e old, since it鈥檚 to no one鈥檚 advantage to have unprotected computers online picking up viruses and passing them on.

both avg and avast software will work, but its true, the updates will stop for your systems soon. xp with sp2 is pretty stable now, and you can buy the disk with sp2. if your cpu and other hardware will suport it. i have xp on a old lappy, cpu is 650mh and ram is 384, runs slow but runs good.

It's time to buy a new PC!

Unless you have a computer running specialist software that requires Windows 98 you might as well buy a used PC running Windows XP. For 拢50/$100 you can buy a perfectly good PC with something like an AMD or Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz processor which is bound to be a lot faster than what you are using now.

Computer internet security????

i have decided to dump the dreaded norton, i have it seems a choice of 3 replacements, or at least from what i can gather these are the best 3, Kaspersky, AVG, or Avast, can anyone convince me of which is the best? i have also been told that Tesco internet security is pretty good, does anyone have experience of this one. kind regards to all.

AVG is crap!

Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. These types love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG fares poorly.

AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.

Vista not shutting down properly?

hi guys I have Vista Ultimate running e6850, 4gb of ram.. etc.

i installed this program called Nhancer it supposed to pushed graphics on my games. and also installed the new updates by Avast so its either those two.

Now everytime I shutdown or restart my computer it goes to the f8 or boot screen says "windows didnt properly shutdown..." but i did. So i selected normal boot then goes to windows then doesnt load some of my dlls and i cant click the menus sometimes i can click them but doesnt work.

So I was thinkin oh yeah ill just uninstall nhancer..didnt work

then did Restore it works but ones i restart/shutdown its back again.

Can u guys help me? I do have a backup image of my system this will be my last solution.

Vista not shutting down properly?internet security software

Go into the console and run chkdsk. A few boot sectors are probably corrupt.

the backup image will probably be the easiest. it will just take a while to get it back to your comp, nothing will be lost since its only your os and not your files that are screwed up. transfer files and all that to your external (or whatever you backed up on) and then reformat and revert to the back up. Nhancer probably rewrote some dlls (or replaced them) and edited the registry and didnt put it back the way it was when you uninstalled and it would be more work to try to rebuild it all than to just get back anything you might lose reverting to the backup.
hi

Vista has a hell lot of problems mate. Everyday someone i complaining about something. It is a computing catastrophe. My game raphics have been dodgy and somebody's ound systems do not work properly. Someone earlier said his Vista has a weak RAM or something like that. I have changed back to Windows XP.

Be wise and do the same.
Virus :o?

How to remove Warezov virus?

I had received Win32: Warezov -AAS virus through a link given by my friend's msn. Apparently, it is the virus that uses her msn and send it to people on her msn list. Whoever that clicks on it, will get the virus immediately. My avast antivirus program can detect it, but always have problem when trying to repair the virus. What can I do to remove it from my computer?

How to remove Warezov virus?internet security

Do some research. Find where the virus copies itself to and delete that file (assuming it's not a system or critical file). Find the registry entry and delete that. Run the registry editor by "Start%26gt;Run%26gt;regedit"

Be careful though messing with the registry, as you can really screw up your computer.

You can be sure that this redirection is done by malware.

Some free search bar or other IE "supporting" stup that You installed. Perhaps when clicking away something :(

Use every spy-ware hunter program You can get.

Check Your auto-start for unwanted items e.g. with ccleaner.

Or other more dedicated auto-start checker and system monitors e.g. programs by sysinternals (subsidiary of Microsoft).

Check Your system for unwanted Browser Helper Objects e.g. with BHOdemon 1.) download at 2.).

Please note that BHOdemon is still good at managing the objects but I consider the protection service inadequate.

The other thing You can do. Get a new browser. Only IE can be attacked in this way. There is plenty of choice. 3.)

My favorites K-Meleon, Opera, Firefox. The first 2 start fast and have much out of the box functionality.

Plus many IE shells to make IE more bullet proof. 4.)

My favorite among the shells Maxton %26 Sleipnir.

I wish You good hunting :)
